Living

Whitby’s predominantly urban south side serves as the Durham Region’s governmental headquarters and economic hub, while its north looks and feels primarily rural, and encompasses the charming municipalities of Myrtle, Brooklin, Myrtle Station and Ashburn.

The town’s eclectic blend of urban and rural neighborhoods, along with its close proximity to the bustling metropolis of Toronto, gives Whitby a truly rare, unique and desirable quality of which most communities can only dream.

Schools, Health, Transportation

Whitby’s school-age children have their education needs met primarily by the Durham (Region) District School Board. This school board also serves the nearby communities of Ajax, Brock, Oshawa, Pickering, Port Perry/Scugog and Uxbridge. It includes 108 elementary schools, and 25 high schools and learning centers.
