Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, is a city in on the Lake Ontario shoreline. It lies in southern Ontario approximately 60 kilometers east of downtown Toronto. In 2011, Oshawa had a population of about 152,000, making it the largest town in the Regional Municipality of Durham.

Public education in Oshawa is administered by the Durham District School Board, which includes about 32 elementary schools and six secondary schools. The Durham Catholic District School Board manages the 14 Catholic elementary schools and two secondary schools in the Durham Region. Private schools include Durham Elementary School, Immanuel Christian School, Kingsway College and College Park Elementary School.

Oshawa is the site of Lakeridge Health Oshawa, which serves as the major hospital for the region and includes the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre.

Transportation in and around Oshawa is accomplished in just about every possible way, such as the GO Rail service and the CN Rail service, a number of highways and byways, a municipal airport and a maritime port, all of which are near any location within the city.
